Job Summary:
Operates a commercial vehicle to transport aggregate materials (soil, sand, gravel, asphalt, etc.) to and from specified destinations.
Occasional travel with overnight stays away from home may be required
Main Responsibilities:
Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
Perform detailed pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections of the vehicle
Document and report any required maintenance or repairs to the maintenance team
Adhere to procedures for safe vehicle operation, including securing cargo and positioning blocks as needed
Ensure the vehicle remains clean, maintaining both the exterior and the operator's cab
Operate a variety of vehicles and vehicle/trailer combinations vital for construction operations.
Adhere to OSHA, FMCSA, and other industry regulations, along with company safety policies and road rules
Assist with the loading and unloading of materials in the truck/trailer bed, which may require operating heavy equipment such as skid steers or loaders
Prepare bills of lading and other vital documentation for transported loads
Maintain accurate documentation related to job assignments as required by the Company
Maintain regular communication with the supervisor for pick-up and delivery instructions
Maintain driver logs in accordance with state and federal regulations
Other related duties as assigned in support of material production and construction operations
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred
Class A CDL with endorsements and valid medical card required
Skills:
2 or more years of commercial driving experience preferred; construction experience and experience operating various @types of vehicles/combinations highly preferred
Prior experience in construction or similar industry a plus
Ability to operate commercial vehicles, including but not limited to belly dumps, side dumps, end dumps, water trucks, etc.
Ability to maintain a clean driving record and compliance with applicable FMCSA CDL driver requirements
Ability to establish professional relationships with internal and external customers and other team members
Ability to read and write, and understand English
Physical Requirements:
Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds
Required to work from a seated position driving a commercial vehicle for long periods
Regularly required to climb in and out of vehicles and/or equipment
Regularly required to use hands for tasks such as feeling, handling, and manipulating objects, including vehicle components, securing hoses, chains, and couplings; as well as writing and operating a keyboard or mobile device
Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Regularly required to stand and walk across uneven terrain
Frequent exposure to loud noise
Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles; exposure to high temperatures
Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
